Online Therapy - nWow! Counselling & Coaching

Do you want to work with us but can’t get to our office? Great news – we also offer online sessions for individuals and couples via Zoom.  All you need is a private space where you wont be interrupted that has a strong and stable internet connection.

Having sessions online is the preferred choice for many of our clients due to all sorts of reasons such as convenience and comfort. Here are some other reasons why you might prefer to work with us online:

  • Living out of town, in a different city or country –  The option of online sessions means you can work with us regardless of where you live. You save yourself a long drive or even a flight. Finding a therapist whose approach you like can be an extremely important factor when choosing who you’re going to work with. Online sessions free you up to choose someone even in a different city to you.

  • Busy schedule –  Whether you work from home, at the office or you’re out and about, the hassle of any appointment can be the time it takes to get there and back. Online sessions allow you to step out from your busy schedule just for the time of the session and then get back into your day. This has also worked for teenagers who can go straight home from school and then have the session from their bedroom.

  • Comfort with challenging topics –  Being in your private space can make it feel easier to open up about something you feel vulnerable about.  If reaching out for help feels daunting, having an online session can be an easier choice than sitting in the room with someone.

  • Increased sense of privacy –  New Zealand can sometimes feel very small and it’s easy to bump into people you know. When you live in a small town you might not want to see a local therapist. You may also wish to avoid bumping into them in your social life. That’s why choosing someone in a different city from where you live can increase privacy. The feeling of privacy is also enhanced when you’re working with someone via a screen.

  • Family requirements –  You might have a baby who you want to stay close to and keep at home or an older relative who you’re looking after. There are times in our lives when we might need to stay at or near home. This is where the freedom of online sessions can really help.

  • Sickness or disability –  It might be hard to leave the house. It might be not doable to access our office which is up a flight of stairs. You might be concerned about public spaces due to a compromised immune system. There are many health situations when choosing online therapy is going to be the choice that works for you best.

  • Couples in long distance relationships –  It can be impossible to have regular in-office sessions when you live in a different city or country from your partner or one of you regularly travels for work. With Zoom sessions, we each log into the session individually and come together in the online world to connect.

  • Returning clients –  We live in a mobile society where people sometimes move cross country or overseas to study, for work or to follow their heart. People have told us that it’s nice to know they can continue to work with us when they move or that they can reach out in the future if they need support again and want someone who they trust and who already knows them and their story.
