Depression - nWow! Counselling & Coaching
1 out of 5 women and 1 out of 8 men in New Zealand experience depression at some point in their lives (depression.org.nz). Despite this ‘shared’ experience, we know that depression can feel very lonely.
People experiencing depression are often very aware of the many issues that can contribute to feeling depressed. Negative thought patterns, underlying emotional trauma and unsupportive beliefs about yourself all play a role in keeping your mood low rather than feeling good about yourself and your life.
Depression can also be related to circumstances such as coping with the loss of someone close, dissatisfaction at work, family or relationship issues or not having a clear life path for example.
Our approach for depression integrates solution-focused counselling and NLP coaching to equip people with skills and tools that allow them to change their thought patterns and effectively deal with the underlying issues and emotions so they can get their life back on track again.
We can work with you in any of the following situations:
- If you are already taking medication and want to regain control over your wellness.
- If you do not wish to take medication, and want help to work through underlying issues.
- If you are about to start coming off or reducing the dosage of your medication and you want support as you come off the medication as well as to help you to plan your way forward successfully.
Some people may be eligible for funding assistance for counselling to help with depression through Work & Income or Victim Support.
